This work began with an examination of the history and lived experience of Two-Spirit people and how colonization disrupted and displaced Two-Spirit people from their communities and respective Nations. This was followed by a detailed review of all past and on-going work with the Two-Spirit community. Finally, Out On Screen turned its attention to how to further support and build upon this work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I see Out On Screen is trying to do their work in a good way,&#8221; said Chase Willier (<em>Cree<\/em>) and long time Two-Spirit community organizer, &#8220;Bringing about balance and restoring relationships are all part of reconciliation. Meaningful reconciliation is also about a commitment towards change, the follow through that really hits home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s exciting and encouraging to see the queer organization Out On Screen being welcoming to the Two-Spirit community in a very meaningful and an engaging way that demonstrates the power and healing work of reconciliation,\u201d said Sandy Leo Laframboise (Cree\/Metis and adopted member of the Tsleil Waututh Nation), Acting Chief of Dancing To Eagle Spirit Society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/VQFFlogo-transparent.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-404\" src=\"https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/VQFFlogo-transparent-300x181.png\" alt=\"VQFFlogo-transparent\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/VQFFlogo-transparent-300x181.png 300w, https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/VQFFlogo-transparent-610x369.png 610w, https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/VQFFlogo-transparent.png 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>These conversations resulted in the following actions to date: Out On Screen issued \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/outonscreen.com\/2016\/06\/23\/out-on-screens-commitment-regarding-our-relationship-with-indigenous-peoples-of-this-land\/\"><i>Out On Screen\u2019s commitment regarding our relationship with Indigenous peoples of this land<\/i><\/a>\u201d; Two-Spirit participation in their <a href=\"http:\/\/queerfilmfestival.ca\/troublemakers\/\">2016 Troublemakers Film Project<\/a>; a Two-Spirit focus at this year\u2019s Vancouver Queer Film Festival &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/queerfilmfestival.ca\/spotlights\/\">Two-Spirit REELness<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; and well as partnering with local Two-Spirit and Native organizations and businesses, such as: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/gvncs78\/?fref=ts\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Great Vancouver Native Cultural Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salmonandbannock.net\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salmon \u2018n Bannock<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/fullcircle.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Full Circle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the host organization of the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/fullcircle.ca\/festival-shows\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talking Stick Festival<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twospiritjournal.com\/\">Two-Spirit Journal<\/a>*<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This VQFF includes three (3) Two-Spirit feature length films with an interactive workshop following the screening of Two Soft Things, Two Hard Things on Sat.
