The Two-Spirit Journal stands united with the city of Orlando, the families and friends of those whose lives were cut so short, and the LGBTQ-2S community against hatred and bigotry. Today’s attack is shocking, and the Two-Spirit Journal offers our deepest condolences to those affected by this horrendous act of terrorism. As the motives and the message behind today’s terror attack in Orlando come into clearer focus, we must remain united against hatred and terror in all its many forms.

At a White House briefing, President Obama offered the following remarks, “Today, as Americans, we grieve the brutal murder — a horrific massacre — of dozens of innocent people. We pray for their families, who are grasping for answers with broken hearts. We stand with the people of Orlando, who have endured a terrible attack on their city. Although it is still early in the investigation, we know enough to say that this was an act of terror and act of hate. And as Americans, we are united in our grief, our outrage and our resolve to defend our people.” Obama went on to say it is time for the United States to discuss serious gun reforms.

The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau issued the following statement,“On behalf of the Government of Canada, Sophie and I offer our condolences and prayers to the families and friends of those lost today, and wish a full recovery to all those injured. We stand in solidarity with Orlando and the LGBTQ2 community. We grieve with our friends in the United States and Florida, and offer any assistance we can provide.”

Once again, our hearts break for our Orlando brothers and sisters of this senseless act of terror, and the Two-Spirit Journal wishes their friends, families  and loved ones peace during this incredibly difficult time.
